Field projects

fAIr's training data is created and validated in the field by community mappers, through two programs: fAIrSwipe, tracked on this page, and Open Mapping Gurus, tracked on Datasets since its deployments produce the training datasets.

fAIrSwipe field projects

fAIrSwipe connects MapSwipe to fAIr through two kinds of project:

  • LOCATE: create training data for a model through crowdsourced swiping.
  • Validate: check a model's predictions through crowdsourced swiping.

Both are organized through the open fAIrSwipe community call. The table lists the projects with a signed agreement. Status as of 13 October 2026.
